This course is an introduction to statistical process control (SPC) and related quality control and improvement technologies. Topics covered include defining and documenting a process, the DMAIC process, regression models, attribute and variable control charts and process capability analysis. Special emphasis will be placed on the use of statistical software (including Minitab) in the solution of problems and analysis of case studies. The objective of this course is to provide students with knowledge of statistical process control and related technologies in quality management and improvement. Students will examine the view that quality is best achieved by the effective management and control of processes and will learn techniques to monitor and control process performance. This course provides the foundation in statistical quality control necessary for advanced quality management courses.
